American Dog Society is an all-volunteer charity founded in New York State in 2022. American Dog Society’s mission is to create better, more educated pet parents by advocating, organizing resources, and connecting people across the United States to improve the lives of dogs and reduce the number of surrendered or abandoned dogs.

While working for the non-profit, I served the role of Remote Video Media Intern which required me to create video content for social media platforms, mainly TikTok, that aligned with the brand mission of American Dog Society.

My functions consisted of

  • Writing and reshaping written content
  • Sourcing relevant video footage
  • Editing video
  • Create entertaining and educational content for the page within the weekly multi-post schedule

During this time, my posts saw an upward trend of viewership with some of the videos seeing as much as a 51% increase in viewer engagement. I also aided with the branding strategies, working with the public relations team to create consistent brand strategies to use across not only TikTok but Instagram and Facebook as well.

In the time I spent at American Dog Society, I worked hands-on with the public relations and graphic design teams as well as the board members to have expertise in the creative brief and necessary branding, and aid in any role that may be outside of my specific job description. I was able to positively maintain these professional relationships and obtain valuable connections to industries across the country.

At the end of my time there I was awarded the Presidential Volunteer Service Gold Award for my 300+ hours of service to the brand.
